Rolfing's Benefits

Rolfing benefits infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.

Rolfing can improve:

 • athletic performance

• scoliosis/postural tension

• chronic pain/tension

• trauma resolution

• breathing difficulties

• normalization of the curvature of the spine

• neuromuscular efficiency

• self-esteem

• levels of daily energy

• TMJ issues

• Migraine tendencies

How Does Rolfing Benefit Children?

Children also experience structural imbalances causing diminished health. Dr. Rolf would say that the challenges with gravity begin in the womb when the connective tissues layers are beginning to take shape and to form our individual growth patterns. Anita has treated a young woman whose left foot was entrapped under her mother’s diaphragm throughout the entire pregnancy. As an adult, her left foot continued to be externally rotated (like a ballerina’s toeing out pattern), causing her difficulty in running, walking up stairs and swimming. After three sessions, this young woman’s foot was better aligned under her ankle, and she moved with more ease and competency.

Rolfing can benefit children with scoliosis, anxiety, hyperactivity, autism, attention deficit difficulties, chronic earaches, spastic gait patterns or postural challenges. Rolfing children usually entails using a lighter more spacious contact as the younger nervous system typically has less resistance to change.
